During our time together we will worship, pray, open the Word, share cozy meals, adventure in wild weather, stoke meaningful conversations around fires, and so much more. The word pneuma means wind, breath, and spirit. The Pneuma Retreat seeks to embody all three by being outdoors, sharing our lives with others, and seeking God through both His special revelation and His natural revelation.

Pneuma is currently hosted on the northern Oregon Coast. We book a unique Airbnb for each group, and we spend most of our time between the cities of Cannon Beach and Pacific City. Why the Oregon Coast? I chose it because every time I’m there, I feel a degree of intimacy with the Lord that I don’t sense anywhere else. The natural landscape of rugged cliffs, old-growth evergreens, and rainy days cultivates restfulness while also stoking the fire of adventure. With every Retreat, more Pneuma alumni express that they feel the same way.

There are currently two retreats per year: one in the fall and one in the winter, though this is subject to change! Subscribe to the newsletter below, or follow on Instagram for new retreat announcements. The retreats are always a five-day commitment, and I’m aware that it’s a big commitment. However, I assure you that it’s not an arbitrary length of time, and all alumni agree that they felt it was worth every moment.

Men from all walks of life who share one thing in common: a longing to meet with the God of goodness, truth, & beauty, just as described in Psalms 27 & 42.

While Pneuma is oriented toward Christian men in the creative realm, it is open to any man who shares the longing expressed in Psalms 27 & 42. Whether you are younger or older, single or married, father or not, employee, student, or freelancer, you are invited because we are not united by our superficial commonalities but by our shared desire to seek Jesus. 

If you're not sure if you fit in at Pneuma, receive this assurance: we’re not a community of perfect men, some of us might be confused right now, and others might be hurting, but we are purposefully committing to slowing down, seeking Jesus, and trusting that He will to knit us together & bind us up in a community centered on His great love.

Your life circumstances and spiritual season may be atop a mountain or amidst a valley. Pneuma is for you.

I would encourage you to read Psalm 27 & Psalm 42 to see if your heart resonates with that desire. If so, you’ll fit in well with the men of Pneuma.

If you are looking for a fun vacation or trip for Instagram, networking, or educational content, then Pneuma is not the right fit for you.

Attending a five-day retreat with strangers in a faraway place can be a vulnerable experience. Our application process is a practical safeguard for the community and for you! It ensures everyone attending Pneuma understands the vision. It may also be your chance to decide whether to attend the Retreat. The application is just as much for you as for the other attendees.

The ticket price for new attendees is $1,000. Alumni receive a $250 discount. Monthly donors who have an established relationship with Pneuma may attend one retreat per year at no cost.

Your attendance at Pneuma includes 4 nights of lodging in our shared Airbnb, a shared rental vehicle, any group activities, and shared meals. Our shared meals begin with our first morning together and end after our last breakfast together. Any other personal purchases are not covered.
